Another full trip around this big blaring ball

we call sun.

With all of the change a new year can bring,

it doesn't feel like anything changes.

If anything, it all stays the same.

Same struggles, same states of happiness, same hobbies.

Nothing is different.

Not right away.

These changes everyone likes to talk about

don't happen at the stroke of midnight.

Or the first time lips lock in the new year.

They happen with the new boyfriend you have at the end of the year

even though you said you weren't dating this year.

They happen with the unexpected and spontaneous move to a new city.

Changes don't happen in one small moment

changes happen in thousands of wispy ones.

All of which form clouds of memories.
