As a writer and someone who has struggled with finding the positive things in life in the past, I think it's important to find a way to make life amazing. To find beauty in small things when all the big things in life are going wrong. To not get caught up in the future or things that have happened in the past.
Passion is what gives us purpose in life. It gives us something to work for, and be obsessed with, something we can look forward to. Passion is such a big thing as it consumes so much of our lives. Sometimes it fills our career or our free time. It constantly fills our minds, even when we're feeling unmotivated and only have the energy to sit on the couch and practice for our deaths by going through the motions of rotting.
Little things make life romantic. The things that often go unnoticed are the most beautiful in life. The lipstick stain on a teacup. The small freckles in someone's eyes that you can only see when the light hits them a certain way. The way a crow sways back and forth as it's communicating with its family. Or even the simple moments we spend with someone we love. It gives purpose to small things and the small purposes in our lives make up the big ones.
Life can be full of romantic moments if you stop to look for them. Watching a new film with beautiful cinematography and thought-provoking dialogue. Finding a scent that encapsulates a specific mood or aesthetic you love. Going to a museum and thinking about what the art means to you. That's the great thing about romantic moments - and one thing so many people get wrong - is that they don't have to be captured with someone else. You must first have romance within yourself to find romance within another.
Romanticizing life is not about making something large and expensive but making the things you have magical. Romanticizing life gives you something to do besides sitting on your phone mindlessly scrolling, while you wait for life to come find you. Sometimes you have to go find life on your own, even if it's hard or you can't understand it at first. The worst thing that can happen is that you fail or make a mistake. But that's not nearly as bad as looking back on your life in thirty years and wishing you would have just tried it out to see what could have happened.
